A great family race and an incredible award winning post-race barbeque…what more could you want for a Sunday morning in June?
Join the fun on Sunday, June 1 for the 9th annual Rhody 5K Road Race at Twin River. More than 800 runners are expected for this 3.1-mile course over Twin River grounds and surrounding roads which will conclude (weather permitting) on the racetrack.
This event has it all…it's a great 5K for weekend warriors and also a designated championship leg of the USA Track and Field (USATF) New England Grand Prix. There's even a Kid's K for children ages 12 and under.
Registration and number, timing chip and T-shirt pick up will take place outside Twin River South Entrance from 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. The race will be held rain or shine. Starting times are 9:30 a.m. for men and 10 a.m. for women. The Kids K will begin at 10:45 a.m.
The Rhody 5K is coordinated by Dave McGillivray, race director of the BAA Boston Marathon and president of Dave McGillivray Sports Enterprises Inc. (DMSE). Over $7,000 to be awarded in prize money.
The race benefits The Tomorrow Fund, an independent, non-profit agency founded in 1985 to provide financial and emotional support to children with cancer and their families and Lincoln Days Committee, a community program that emphasizes town unity through entertainment and civic activities. Also included is the Twin River Greyhound Adoption Program, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding loving and responsible homes for retired greyhounds.
