Triathlon: Kozub Attempts To Defend His BOUS Title

(St. Paul, MN – 5/20/08) Bethesda, Maryland’s Philippe Kozub, the 2007 Best of the US National Champion, has earned the right to attempt to defend his title. The 33-year-old Kozub, runner-up to Indiana’s Daniel Bretscher for USAT Athlete of the Year in 2007, was the top Maryland amateur finisher at the silver anniversary edition of the Columbia Triathlon / Best of the US Maryland Qualifier on May 18. “We couldn’t be happier that Philippe will be in Tempe this year,” said Trudy Marshall, BOUS Executive Director. The 2008 Best of the US Championship will be hosted by the Soma Quarterman at Tempe Towne Lake in Tempe, AZ on October 26. “In addition to being one of America’s premier amateur triathletes, Philippe is a truly classy individual. His participation elevates our program.”

Also receiving an invitation to represent Maryland at the BOUS Championship was USAT All American Amy Alexander of Annapolis. “Amy has a demonstrated a lot of potential and we certainly hope she accepts her invitation,” notes Jerry MacNeil, BOUS PR Director. “She is improving with every race.”
