Scotland’s Bella Comerford is eyeing victory at this weekend’s Lanzarote Ironman, though her fiancée Stephen Bayliss, the other half of Britain’s Iron couple will not be competing due to a recent knee injury.

Comerford comments: “I’ve arrived in Lanzarote feeling strong, confident and ready to do a great job. I think there is a strong girls field but I am not worrying about them, I know what I’ve got to do”.

Bayliss meanwhile is unconcerned by his rapidly improving knee injury which will hopefully be a thing of the past come the 70.3 UK Ironman. He comments “The season is geared towards preparing for the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii, so I am going to keep training and keep preparing for some other races in my build up to Kona (Hawaii).

On the weekend he comments “I am out in Lanzarote to support Bella, she is in great shape and I am looking forward to watching her have a great race.

Ironman Lanzarote takes place this Saturday, 24th May, at Club La Santa. Full event details can be found at www.ironmanlanzarote.com or for live race feed visit www.ironmanlive.com.
