Costa Rican Olympic hopeful, Gabriela Trana wins the Fargo Half Marathon with a record-breaking finish. Leading the race with a comfortable six-minute lead, Trana finished in just over 1 hour and 20 minutes, followed by last year’s winner Jennifer Hess in 1:26:07.
Gabriela Trana is a 28-year-old seeking to gain a spot in the Costa Rican team for the Beijing 2008 summer Olympics. Last year, Gabriela won her debut marathon in the Walt Disney World race with a bold move from fourth place to first within the last four miles. With Gabriela’s realization of her long distance ability after winning the marathon, she was ready to prepare for the Olympics. With her new determination, Gabriela biggest concern was to remain injury free. As with all runners at any level, there is nothing more important than to remain healthy.
