Eugene, Oregon--Is it possible to have a photo finish in the shot
put? It might seem so, looking at the credentials of the athletes in
the Prefontaine Classic event on June 8th. There's World Champion
*Reese Hoffa, *who won the in Osaka last year and was ranked No. 1 in
the world by /Track & Field News /magazine as a result. Then there's
Olympic and World Championships medalist *Adam Nelson*, always a crowd
favorite in Eugene, who ranked No. 2 in the world. And last, though
certainly not least, is *Christian Cantwell*, ranked No. 3 in 2007. But
so far this year, it's Cantwell the world leader at 71-4 3/4 (21.76),
Hoffa next at 70-5 3/4 (21.48), and Nelson at 70-1 3/4 (21.38).
Sneaking in to break up the triumvirate is Jamaica's *Dorian Scott *at
70-4 1/2 (21.45), a massive improvement on his previous personal best.
And keeping everyone honest is world No. 6 *Dan Taylor *of the U.S.
Tickets are still available for the 34th Prefontaine Classic from
GoDucks.com, from 1-800-WEBFOOT, and at the Casanova Center Ticket
Office.
