Triathlon: Comerford set sights on 4th Ironman event win in row at Austria

Britain’s Bella Comerford has her sights on a 4th consecutive Ironman event win of the year at this weekend’s Ironman Austria while her fiancée Stephen Bayliss hunts his third consecutive podium of the year.

Bella has already finished first this year at Ironman South Africa, Ironman Lanzarote and Ironman 70.3UK, whilst Bayliss has finished 1st at Ironman South Africa and 2nd at the UK 70.3.

Going in to the event Bella comments “I am really looking forward to racing Ironman Austria. It is a new course to me but we are going with plenty of time so we can get to know the course well. It is an advantage to know the course inside and out.”

She continues “I feel stronger than ever. The past few races I have done have made me stronger and fitter. On Sunday I will give the race everything I have and I hope that it turns out to be an amazing day."

On the men’s event Stephen comments “I am in very good shape and feel ready to give my best, I know it will be a tough race with Vanhoenaker and Loisel pushing the pace on the bike, I hope to keep them to a reasonable gap and then aim to run as fast as I can and we will see if it fast enough to win."
