Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon Entries to 250 Finishers
(Duluth, Minn.) If you are looking to secure a spot in next June’s Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, you most likely will not find a better chance! The 2nd annual Grandma’s Minnesota Mile Duluth is Sunday, Sept. 7, and 250 finishers will be randomly selected to receive a guaranteed entry into the 19th annual Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon on June 20, 2009.
Registration for the Grandma’s Minnesota Mile Duluth, run through downtown Duluth, is now open and entry forms are available at Austin-Jarrow and other running stores and fitness centers throughout the Northland. Entry forms may be also be downloaded at www.GrandmasMarathon.com. The entry fee is $15 until Sept. 5 and $20 on Sept. 6 and 7.
“This is a unique opportunity for runners hoping to participate in the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon without needing to enter the lottery system,” says Scott Keenan, executive director of Grandma’s Marathon. Registrants will be notified by mail if they are among the 250 randomly-selected finishers.
The Grandma’s Minnesota Mile Duluth is the second race in the Minnesota Mile series. The first event in the series, Grandma’s Minnesota Mile St. Paul, was held July 22 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.
The Grandma’s Minnesota Mile Duluth event consists of four divisions, including an elite division featuring a $5,700 prize purse. The race begins one block east of Fitger’s on Superior Street and finishes near the Holiday Center.
