Triathlon: Crown Spa Resort Hainan to host Ironman China & Ironman 70.3 China Triathlon

25 October 2008 - Ironman China, Ltd. announced today that the Crown Spa Resort Hainan has been named the Official Hotel of Ironman China & Ironman 70.3 China presented by K-Swiss.

Located on prime beachfront property east of Haikou, the Crown Spa Resort Hainan has excellent facilities and is conveniently located to the start, finish and transition area of Ironman China’s newly revised race course. Calling it “one of the premier resort destinations in Haikou,” Ironman China, Ltd. president, Robert Vernon said “we are extremely pleased to have the Crown Spa Resort as a sponsor, and we know that our athletes and their travel companions will appreciate the warm reception they will receive at this world-class hotel and spa.”

The Crown Spa Resort Hainan is a 5-star Hotel-Spa-Resort located just 15 minutes from Haikou’s Meilan International Airport and the city’s commercial district. The hotel holds Guinness World Records for “The Largest Resort in China” and “The Largest Indoor Hot Spring Hydrotherapy Center. Besides two Guinness World Records, the hotel is also a member of Interval International and member of ISPA (International Spa Association). It has a private beach of 1000 meters, natural hot spring, and a well-equipped Fitness Center. Special discounts for Ironman athletes and their travel companions are being provided by the hotel and will be available only for rooms booked through authorized Ironman China tour operators. The island of Hainan is located in the southernmost part of China, neighboring the Philippines' Luzon Island in the east, and Malaysia and Indonesia in the south. Popularly known as the “Hawaii of the Orient,” Hainan boasts exotic beaches and a tropical climate all year round.

Ironman China will take place on 19 April 2009, the same day as Ironman 70.3 China, and is the only race venue to host two Ironman events at the same site on the same day.
