Athletics: Minnesota Runners Receive MEADP Grants

The Minnesota Elite Athlete Development Program (MEADP) recently awarded $7,000 in grants to seven Minnesota elite runners. Melissa Gacek, Eric Hartmark, Jennifer Hess, Kristen Nicolini Lehmkuhle, Kim Magee, Jeremy Polson and Antonio Vega were selected through an application process to receive funds designed to help offset training, travel and competition expenses. The grants were awarded Jan. 17 at the Minnesota Distance Running Association (MDRA) Annual Meeting in Edina, Minn. MEADP Grant Recipients Antonio Vega $1,750 Eric Hartmark $1,000 Jeremy Polson $750 Kristen Nicolini Lehmkuhle $1,500 Melissa Gacek $1,000 Kim Magee $750 Jennifer Hess $250 In 1998, the Minnesota distance running community created MEADP to provide financial assistance to elite Minnesota distance runners who have completed their academic running careers. The program provides grants to assist qualified runners in reaching their full athletic potential.
