(Duluth, Minn.) Grandma's Marathon has announced Duluth News Tribune news writer Mark Stodghill as the recipient of the 2009 Marsh Nelson Media Award.
Stodghill has been covering Grandma's Marathon and its accompanying events for more than 30 years, first in the sports department and more recently as a news writer. He is also an avid marathoner and will be among the runners competing in the 2009 Grandma's Marathon.
Stodghill will receive the award at the 10th annual Marsh Nelson Media Luncheon and Award Ceremony on Friday, June 19, in the Lake Superior Ballroom at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC).
The award is given annually to a media representative to recognize his or her commitment to the coverage and development of Grandma's Marathon. This special award is named in memory of former KDLH-TV sports director Marsh Nelson for his tremendous passion for covering Grandma's Marathon and other local athletic events.
