INDIANAPOLIS -USA Track & Field has teamed with St. Vincent Sports Performance of Indianapolis to develop the Elite Athlete Medical Support Program, providing additional medical assistance to qualified injured athletes.
St. Vincent Sports Performance, in close partnership with USATF, designed the Elite Athlete Medical Support Program to complement other USATF and U.S. Olympic Committee insurance and medical support programs to elite athletes.
Qualified athletes and their support system will receive access to St. Vincent's comprehensive and experienced sports medicine providers. The USATF/St. Vincent Sports Performance Elite Athlete Medical Support Program will provide athletes with access to services such as evaluation, diagnostics including x-rays and MRIs, surgery, and lab work. St. Vincent also will collaborate with the athlete's local medical support to work towards a successful outcome.
"Having access to health care and rehabilitation services are big issues for all our athletes," USATF CEO Doug Logan said, "The Elite Athlete Medical Support Program and this partnership between USATF and St. Vincent will enable USATF to enhance our athletes' health and well being, and to assist athletes who require additional medical support."
"What we have put together from St. Vincent is what I refer to as a "no barriers" program with a focus on the athlete," said Ralph Reiff, Director of St. Vincent Sports Performance. "We are really looking forward to working with USA Track & Field and working with the athletes, their support networks, coaches and agents towards a successful future."
St. Vincent, a nationally recognized hospital system and health network, has extensive experience serving professional athletes, including NFL and NBA players, Olympians and top race car drivers.
