August 4, 2009 -- (Philadelphia, PA) -- Rebeccah Wassner continued her winning ways in Philadelphia as she won the Pro/Elite competition at the 2009 Danskin Philadelphia Triathlon. The event was switched to a duathlon due to torrential weather and heavy currents in the Schuylkill River.
Wassner, who also won the Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon in June, dominated the course going wire-to-wire in a time of 1:09:55. Her twin sister, Laurel Wassner, finished in second place in 1:11:37 just under two minutes behind her sister. Local pro Heather Leggi (Bryn Mawr) rounded out the podium finishing in 1:13:18.
Danskin Philadelphia is one of 10 sprint distance triathlons to be held between May and September this year. To date, more than 21,000 women have registered for the 2009 Danskin Series and events in five cities have sold out.
The Series was launched in 1990 as a part of Danskin's longstanding commitment to women's health and fitness. More than 200,000 women across the country have participated in the series and know first-hand the empowering and life-changing experience that embodies "the Danskin."
