OTTAWA - Athletics Canada is pleased to announce today that Ozzie Sawicki has been named to the position of Para-Athletics Head Coach. Sawicki is tasked with the overall direction of the Canadian Para-Athletics team leading and developing them to the 2012 Paralympic Games while keeping in mind the critical need for a comprehensive and integrated long term development strategy; his position is effective as of Tuesday September 8, 2009.
Sawicki of Calgary, AB has been coaching since 1988 where he began his career from athlete to coach in alpine skiing. Most notably Ozzie was head coach of the Canadian Para-alpine ski team from 2000 to 2004. While in that position, he founded Pozitive Results Sport Strategies, a consultation company focused on solutions at all levels of sport.

A chartered professional high performance coach, Sawicki also holds experience with the Canadian Paralympic Committee where he acts as a representative on the Board of Directors and as a member of the CPC high performance committee.
