Betting site PaddyPower.com gives Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie the edge over Kenyan Duncan Kibet for Sunday's real,-Berlin Marathon.
PaddyPower is offering 4-to-7 odds that Gebrselassie will win the race, versus 11-to-8 odds for Kibet. That means should Gebrselassie win the race, for every seven dollars bet on him with PaddyPower the bettor would receive four back, a return of 57%. Conversely, a winning bet placed on Kibet would result in 11 dollars being being paid for every eight bet, or a 138% return.
Odds for any other athlete in the field to win are long: 20-to-1 for Francis Kiprop, 25-to-1 for David Langat, 28-to-1 for Eshetu Wondimu, 33-to-1 for Mariko Kiplagat and 66-to-1 for Atsushi Fujita.
The site is also offering bets on whether or not the world record will be broken. A successful "no" bet pays 1-to-4, while a successful "yes" bet pays 5-to-2.
Betting odds are also available on the women's race ranging from 8-to-13 for Askala Tafa Margasa, the top-seeded athlete in the race, to 80-to-1 for Scotland's Hayley Haining.
