OTTAWA -- Athletics Canada is extremely honoured to be named as this years' recipient of Coaches of Canada's Sheila Robertson Award. The official presentation of the award will take place tonight during the Petro-Canada Sport Leadership Award Ceremony in Vancouver, BC.
Created in 2005, the Sheila Robertson Award is named after the founding editor of Coaches Report Magazine. It recognizes a national sport organization or multi-sport service organization consistently valuing, involving and supporting its coaches.
In its release announcing Athletics Canada as the 2009 recipient, Coaches of Canada stated: “Athletics Canada, this year's recipient, has made remarkable strides in coach recognition. New funds supported the development of an innovative coach-led high performance structure, news releases and a monthly e-newsletter regularly feature coaches, and the website highlights coach bios, profiles, and appointments. To ensure their involvement in decision making, coaches are included in leadership meetings.”
