PROVIDENCE, RI -- Triathletes ranging from 13 to 74 years old will converge at Stumpy Creek Park in Mooresville, NC, on Sunday, August 8, to compete in the Amica 19.7 Sprint Triathlon at Stumpy Creek.
More than 550 athletes will compete in the sprint triathlon, which features a half-mile swim, a 16.1-mile bike and a 3.1-mile run. The event kicks off at 7 a.m. with the swim, which takes place in Lake Norman, followed by the bike course, which goes through Iredell County on rural country roads. The course has rolling hills and wide shoulders. The race then finishes with a one- loop run course continuing through Iredell County.
The Amica 19.7 Sprint Triathlon at Stumpy Creek is part of the 2010 Amica 19.7 Triathlon Series, a sprint distance series of events held throughout the country. It is the sixth stop of Amica's 10-event series, which culminates in Phoenix, AZ, in November.

The Amica 19.7 Sprint Triathlon at Stumpy Creek has been selected as the official Best of the US Qualifier for North Carolina. Athletes will compete to be the North Carolina State Champion and earn a berth at the Best of the U.S. National Championship.
