Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, 2010 (Boulder, Colo.) – American Andy Potts and Great Britain's Julie Dibens celebrated victory today at the inaugural Rohto Ironman 70.3 Boulder Triathlon. Potts, an Olympian and 2007 Ironman 70.3 World Champion, took the title in 3:46:50. Dibens, the current Ironman 70.3 World Champion, crossed the line in 4:19:46.
Potts, who was first out of the water, was among two-time Ironman World Champion and Boulder resident, Tim DeBoom, Australia's Stephen Hackett and Bermuda's Tyler Butterfield. Hackett took the lead early in the bike and entered T2 in front, but was overtaken by Potts before the first run aid station. Butterfield's 1:15:21 half-marathon provided the fastest run split of the day and a second-place finish.

Dibens showed her strength in all three disciplines and lead the women's race from start to finish. Exiting the water four seconds ahead of American Rebecca Witinok-Huber, Dibens maintained a blistering 25-mph pace on the bike, completing the 56 miles in 2:12:53. She began the run more than five minutes ahead of the next competitor and added another Ironman 70.3 victory to her resume. Dibens raced against Americans Jessica Meyers and Uli Bromme, who posted 1:28 half-marathons to finish in third and fourth place, respectively.

One of more than 40 events in the Ironman 70.3 global series, Rohto Ironman 70.3 Boulder took athletes on a 1.2-mile swim in the Boulder Reservoir followed by a 56-mile bike and a 13.1-mile run on courses that offered spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains. Today's event saw 1,288 starters, ranging in age from 18 to 68 years old. More than 600 Colorado residents participated in this event that serves as an official qualifier for the Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3, presented by Ford, taking place on Nov. 13, 2010.
