Registration Opens for Inaugural Norfolk Freedom Half Marathon, Nov. 11-13, 2011
NORFOLK, Va. (August 6, 2010) - Freedom Marathon, Inc (FMI), a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness and support the needs of Veterans and their families, has opened registration for the Inaugural Norfolk Freedom Half Marathon.
The event occurs Veteran's Day weekend, Friday to Sunday, November 11-13, 2011 in Norfolk, Va.
Freedom Marathon, Inc and the City of Norfolk have partnered to manage these events for the next five years. FMI will host a half marathon in 2011 followed by full marathons in the subsequent years.Freedom Marathon, Inc's first event has activities planned for all ages and will be focused on families.
The inaugural event includes a health and fitness expo, carbo load dinner, relays, family runs and wheelchair invitational, with the main event being the Norfolk Freedom Half Marathon.
Proceeds will benefit The Wounded Warrior Project and the Norfolk Office to End Homelessness.
