CHICAGO (February 1, 2012) - - Athletes across the country are invited to run this year's Bank of America Chicago Marathon for an incredible cause by joining the Special Olympics Chicago team. Registration for this year's Bank of America Chicago Marathon, which will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2012, opens to the public on February 1, 2012.
To join the Special Olympics Chicago Marathon team, athletes must register with Special Olympics Chicago at SOChicago.org. There is no cost to join the Special Olympics Chicago running team, however, participants are asked to raise a minimum of $1000.
Special Olympics Chicago team members enjoy a number of benefits, including: waiver of the $150 Marathon fee; free training program with Chicago Endurance Sports (CES); a free trip to the 2011 Las Vegas Marathon/Half Marathon, for the top fundraiser; a tech training shirt; free race day parking for the top 25 fundraisers; indoor preparation facilities at the Chicago Firehouse Restaurant on the morning of race day; free pre-race continental breakfast; free post-race beverages and massage at the Chicago Firehouse Restaurant. Please note, individuals running for Special Olympics Chicago will also need to register at Chicago Marathon at ChicagoMarathon.com.
Special Olympics Chicago has been a charitable partner of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon since 2009. Since that time, more than 500 runners have dedicated their Marathon journey to their fellow athletes by running for Special Olympics Chicago.
