December 28, 2008: Three OAC Racing Athletes have won awards at the Ottawa Sports Awards dinner which will be hel on January 21, 2009.
Lanni Marchant is Road Racer of the Year, Liz Maguire is Marathoner of the Year, and Cynthia Wilson is Triathlete of the Year.
November 29, 2008: Lanni Marchant placed 14th in today's Canadian XC Championships in Guelph, ON in a time of 26:59.8 for the 7K course.
November 16, 2008: Lanni Marchant finished third in the Ontario Track and Field Cross Country Championships in Toronto in a time of 23:08 for the 6K course.
November 15, 2008: Cynthia Wilson, a triathlete of the year, and Heather Thomson and Brian Doan, who have competed in 16 half-iron man triathlons were guests on the Running Show today.

November 9, 2008: Lanni Marchant has been selected to the Canadian team for the Chiba road race in Japan November 24th.
Now in its 20th year, the format of the race features mixed teams of men and women running six alternating legs totaling 42.195 km as follows: 1st leg, Men 5 km; 2nd leg, Women 5 km; 3rd leg, Men 10 km; 4th leg, Women 5 km; 5th leg, Men 10 km; 6th leg, Women 7.195 km.
November 8, 2008: In this morning's Half-Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Clearwater, FLA Cynthia WIlson placed 15th pro in 4:24:10; Tina Pippy finished in 4:45:23; Keli Kavanagh finished in 5:07:27; Erin Morley finished in 5:24:45 and Heather Thomson finished in 5:47:18.
November 1, 2008: Jackie Sandoz ran 18:30 to place second female in the NCRA Cookie Run 5K in Ottawa.
October 26, 2008: In this morning's Rattle Me Bones 5K in Ottawa, Lanni Marchant placed first female (and 4th overall) in 17:00 and Joscelyn Coolican ran 21:54. In the 10K, Michelle Schuler (4 months pregnant) ran 41:38 to place 2nd female and Lisa Steele ran 44:08.
In the Niagara Falls Marathon, Beth Primrose ran 2:55:26 to place first female and 13th overall! She wins $2,250.00 ($1,500 for first open and $750.00 for first Master).
October 24, 2008: Coach Ken Parker and athletes Liz Maguire and Lanni Marchant were guests on the Running Show on Team 1200 on Saturday, October 25th.

October 19, 2008: In this morning's Toronto Marathon Liz Maguire finished second female and 1st Master (40-44) in 3:01:19.
In the Half-Marathon Erin Morley placed 25th female and 5th Master (40-44) in a chip time of 1:31:51 (PB).
In the Jim Howe Memorial 5K XC Race, Sheila Kealey was the second female and 1st Master (40-49) in 21:15
October 18, 2008: Lanni Marchant placed third in the Canadian National 10K Road Race Championships in Ottawa this morning in a PB time of 34:56.1.
October 12, 2008: Regine Ambroise was the first woman (and 7th overall) in the Fall Colours 5K in Cumberland this morning in a time of 19:21.
October 11, 2008: Sheila Kealey was the first woman (and 6th overall) in 31:58.6 in the Beat Beethoven 8K in Ottawa.
Michelle Schuler was the first woman in the Half-Marathon in 1:39:42.1.
October 9, 2008: Lanni Marchant won the Mustang Open XC meet in LOndon, ON in 14:18 for the 4K course.

Justine Ogle ran 3:48:19 (chip-time) in the Marathon.
September 21, 2008: In this morning's Army Run 5K, Lanni Marchant was the top female in 17:22.4, Stephanie Smith was 9th in 19:40.0, Paula Hickman was 11th in 20:12.8, Melanie Patina was 16th in 20:40.2, Marie Jane Roberts was 22nd in 21:11.3 and Lisa Steele was 25th in 21:22.0.
Jackie Sandoz ran unofficial 18:38.
The OAC was the top OVERALL team with a combined time of 57:17 for the top three scorers.
Liz Maguire was the top female in the half-marathon in 1:22:19, Daniele Riendeau was 3rd in 1:23:43.9, Sara Domina was 11th in 1:32:23.9 and Annie Robitaille was 12th in 1:32:25.6. The OAC was the top women's team (and 3rd fastest overall) in 4:18:28.

In the Last Chance Sprint Triathlon, Cynthia WIlson was first female and second overall in a time of 1:11.44.
September 14, 2008: Beth Primrose ran 1:21:14 for the Montreal Half-Marathon this morning placing second female and 1st master (45-49).
Regine Ambroise won her age-group in the Montreal Duathlon in 2:17:43.
Cynthia Wilson finished 6th Pro in the Ironman Muskoka 70.3 in a time of 4:53:00. Tina Pippy finished in 5:33:54 placing 4th in her age-group. Erin Morley finished in 5:51:09 placing 11th in her age-group.

In the sprint triathlon Sheila Kealey was 2nd female (and first Master 40-44) in 1:26:29; Tina Pippy was 5th female (and 2nd Master 40-44) in 1:30:20; Regine Ambroise was 3rd Master(45-49) in 1:37:59.

August 23, 2008: Lisa Balerna finished second female at the Ontario Duathlon Championships in Coburg, ON in a time of 2:33:26 for the 10K run, 40K bike, 5K run.
In Toronto at the Ontario Masters Championships Paula Hickman ran a fine 19:49.49 to break the W55 Ontario Record of 20:01 that was set by Molly Turner in 1990.
Beth Primrose ran 18:39 to win the 45-49 category.

August 3, 2008: In this morning's K-Town Triathlon in Kingston, ON, Cynthia Wilson was second elite female and eighth overall in a time of 3:09:30 for the Long Course Triathlon. Keli Kavanagh finished in 3:29:07 placing first in her age-group;Jennifer Hopkins finished in 4:12:38.
August 2, 2008: In this morning's National Capital National Capital Triathlon, Duathlon, Sheila Kealey was first in the Sprint Triathlon in 1:06:30 and Regine Ambroise was seventh in 1:14:56.
In the Super Sprint Triathlon, Liz Maguire was first (overall!) in 1:07:27.
Michelle Schuler was second in the Olympic Triathlon in 2:27:54 and Melanie Patina was fifth in 2:37:36.

July 27, 2008: In today's Newfoundland Ironman 70.3 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Cynthia Wilson placed second female in 4:33:34, Sara Domina placed 4th in 4:48:46, Tina Pippy finshed in 5:13:30 placing second in her age-group, and Heather Thomson finished in 5:58:59 placing third in her age-group.
July 20, 2008: Lanni Marchant ran 17:36 in the London Summer Night 5K on July 18, to place first female and 11th overall.
Stephanie Smith placed second in her age-group in the Niagara Triathlon in 1:26:23.
In the Logs, Rocks and Steel adventure race (16K of trail running, 14K of paddling and portaging and 15K of mountain biking) in Minden, ON on Saturday, Sophia Tsouros placed first woman and is off to New Zealand next February for the Coast to Coast race.
July 13, 2008: In this morning's Carleton Place 5K, Martine Quesnel (Ponka) was first in 19:26, Lisa Steele was third - and first Master (40-44) - in 22:26 and Stpehanie Plante was eighth in 23:58.
In the Graham Beasley Sprint Duathlon. Lisa Balerna was first woman (and fourth overall) in 1:07:20.
In the Olympic Triathlon, Kelly Kavanagh was first in 2:31:50.

In the Boilermaker 15K in Utica, NY Beth Primrose placed 4th Master in 58:58.
Chantal Gosselin placed second in the Ottawa Bicycle Club Grand Prix Masters bike race in Gatineau Park. Kelly Kavanagh placed 6th in 2:02:21.4.
July 13, 2008: Cynthia Wilson won the elite women division of the Gatineau Triathlon on Saturday in a time of 1:01:48 for the 750M swim, 20K cycle and 5K run.
Stephanie Smith was the third woman and first in her age-group in the Olympic distance triathlon in 2:25:44.
July 9, 2008: Liz Maguire ran 5:00.52 for the 1500m in the Ottawa Lions Twilight Meet tonight.
July 6, 2008: Cynthia Wilson won the Canadian Long Course Triathlon Championships in Osoyoos, BC this morning in a time of 4:40:33 for the 2K swim, 90K cycle and 21.2K run, winning by almost 16 minutes!. She placed 18th overall!
July 5, 2008: Sheila Kealey placed second woman in this morning's MIke Collingwood Memorial Triathlon in Gatineau Park in a time of 1:28:52 for the 1200M swim, 23.5K cycle and 6.4K run.
A team of Erin Down, Nicholas Newell and Liz Maguire won the team category in 1:25:41. Ann Marie Foley, Stephanie Smith and Paula Hickman was the first women's team in 1:33:23.
July 1, 2008: In this morning's HBC Canada Day Run 10K, Michelle Schuler was second in 38:50.0, Jackie Sandoz was third in 39:12.8, Lisa Balerna was fourth in 39:43.5, Sheila Kealey was seventh (and second master) in 40:39.4, Annie Robitaille was fifteenth in 44:02.9, Jen Dillinger was twenty-second in 44:58.5, Lisa Steele was thirty-first in 45:56.4, and Stephanie Plante was thrity-third in 46:43.9.

June 15, 2008: In this morning's Do It For Dad 5K, Tracy Abarbanel ran a PB 20:52.1 to place second woman and first in her age-group.
In Muskoka, in the Long Course Triathlon, Cynthia Wilson was 2nd overall in the chase format and first women pro in 3:05:22, beating Lisa Bentley who finished in 3:07:15!
Sara Domina was first in her age-group in 3:22:40.
June 14, 2008: In today's Riverkeeper Sprint Triathlon, Sheila Kealey finished second woman (and fourth overall) in 1:07:27, Melanie Patina was third in 1:11:57, Tifenn Vialatte was twelfth in 1:16:44. In the Olympic triathlon Keli Kavanagh was fourth in 2:27:51, Erin Morley was seventh in 2:31:12.

In the Camp Fortune - 5 Peaks Trail Running Series Enduro (15K) on Saturday, Spohia Tsouros was 3rd in 1:34:33.9 and Jen Dillinger was 6th in 1:42:16.

December 1, 2007: Lanni Marchant finished 21st at the Canadian Cross-Country Championships in Guelph, ON. The race was run on a snowy course with temperatures of -7 degrees and featured a very competitive field with Olympian Carmen Douma-Hussar winning.

September 23, 2007: Three OAC athletes were named in the Ottawa Citizen's "Top 10 Performances From Ottawa Area's Amateur Runners":
1. Lisa Balerna
Last year's Ontario duathlete of the year already has won seven duathlons this season. The highlight of the year was last weekend, when she won the Canadian Duathlon Championships in Parry Sound. That win qualified Balerna for the world championships taking place in Italy next September. Along the way, she threw in a personal-best performance two weeks ago at the Gloucester half-marathon.
2. Chantal Gosselin
She won the Gloucester half-marathon in a personal-best time, and also finished first in the Xerox 10k and the Carleton Place 5k. But when she wrote in with nominations for the summer's best performances, she talked only about her teammates and left herself off the list.
3. Carolyn Turner
Running a personal-best time is supposed to be a rare event, but Turner did it twice in just over a week. She ran 5k in 18:46 on Sept. 1 and then won the Gloucester 5k in 18:18 on Sept. 9, knocking almost 30 seconds off her record.

Paula's time of 1:28:39.2 beats the published Masters (55-59) record of 1:30:24 set by Eileen Doran in 1996.

August 26, 2007: Liz Maguire was the third woman and second master in the Quebec City Half-Marathon this morning in a time of 1:25:54. Esther Kong placed 12th woman and 2nd in her age-group in 1:38:22. The race was run under hot and windy conditions.
At the HSBC Sprint Duathlon at Calabogie, Lisa Balerna was the first woman and 5th overall in a time of 1:48:40 for the 5K run, 30K cycle, 5K run.
August 21, 2007: Chantal Gosselin was the first woman in the Xerox 10K run in Ottawa's Arboretum tonight in a time of 38:28.5. Carolyn Turner was third in 39:43.3 and Paula Hickman was seventh (and first Masters) in 40:53.0. Annie Robitaille placed 11th in 42:49.6.
August 19, 2007: Michelle Schuler was the first woman in the Thousand Islands Duathlon in Brockville, ON this morning in a time of 1:06:30 for the 2.3K run, 20K cycle and 5K run. Sheila Kealey was the first woman in the Sprint Triathlon (750M swim, 20K cycle, 5K run) in 1:08:32.

November 4, 2006: Black Ribbons Will Be Worn At NYC Marathon In Tribute To Emilie Mondor
Canadian 5000-meter Olympian Emilie Mondor had planned to make her marathon debut in New York but died after a car crash in September. "She was very dedicated to the sport and very excited to undertake the marathon distance," observed Deena Kastor, who knew Mondor from time spent together in Mammoth Lakes, CA. "The New York Road Runners have made available black ribbons for the elite athletes to wear on her behalf, so I think (you'll) see her well-represented on the starting line despite her lack of being there."

September 23, 2006: In the Steve Hall Memorial 5 & 10K run from the Perley Rideau Veterans Health Center this morning, Sue Kelly won the 5K in 19:04, Barb Saville was second (and first Masters) in 19:17, Joscelyn Coolican was fourth in 20:41 (PB) and Tracy Abarbanel was 8th in 21:09 (PB).
Annie Robitaille won the 10k in 38:35 and Paula Hickman was second (and first Masters) in 41:11.
September 10, 2006: Athens Olympian Emilie Mondor, who had moved to the Ottawa area this summer, was killed in a car accident on September 9th while on her way home to attend her high school reunion.
Emilie, the first Canadian woman to run under 15:00 for 5K, was training for the marathon and was to make her debut in New York City in November.

September 10, 2006: In today's Gloucester Half-Marathon and 5K, Barb Saville and Shirley Fleming were 1-2 in the 5K in 19:38 and 19:58. In the Half-Marathon, Jennifer Hopkins and Erin Morley placed 1-2 in 1:31:07 and 1:33:44.
September 2, 2006: In today's Canadian Sprint Duathlon in Ottawa, Michelle Schuler was the first woman (and 8th overall) in 1:20:12. Lisa Balerna was second in 1:23:38 for the 2K, 30K,5K course.

August 27, 2006: At Ironman Canada, Ann Marie Foley won her age-group (45 - 49) and was 327th overall in 11:15:13.

August 20, 2006: In today's Thousand Islands Duathlon in Brockville, ON, Michelle Schuler placed first woman and fourth overall in 1:05:38 for the 2.3K run, 20K cycle and 5K run distance.

August 6, 2006:Susanne Russell was third woman and tenth overall in the Kingston Long Course triathlon today. Her time was 3:11:23 for the 2K swim, 56.5K cycle, 15K run course.

Chilled out rescue team
THE Canadians are also firing up for Rescue06, the World Lifesaving Championships to he held in Geelong next month.
Already, they look the most resourceful team, completing the last little bits of their training in freezing cold temperatures and layers of woolly clothing, with no unfrozen water or sand in sight. For paddleboard and surf ski practice, Ottawa's Carla St Germain and teammates Daniel Berube, Susan Kelly and Oliver Gomes tie their boards and skis to a wall at an indoor pool and paddle up against it.
They do their beach training on the snow and ice sprinting in their snowshoes and are swapping steaming cups of coffee for beach flags. "It's tough running with all the winter gear on, so we should feel fairly lightweight with a bathing suit and bare feet," St Germain said.

July 10, 2005: Susanne Russell was third WPRO in the Peterborough Half-Ironman Triathlon today with a time of 5:01:56 for the 2K swim, 90K cycle and 21.1K run.
July 9, 2005: Sheila Kealey won the OAC Triathlon (actually a swim-run duathlon) for the fourth time in the past five years - she was second in 2003. She finished in a time of 1:00:16 for the 1200M swim, 9.6K run.
Barb Saville was the second Masters(40+), after Sheila, in 1:05:47; Ann Marie Foley was the third Master(40+) in 1:07:18.
A number of club members competed in the relay - Paula Hickman was on the winning Mixed team with Don MacDonald (Ann Marie's husband), Erin Down and Esther Kong were second in the Women's Team and Sophia Tsouros was on the third place Women's Team.
Mary Jane Middelkoop competed in the MEC 5 Peaks Trail Running series in Mansfield and finished as fifth female despite getting temporarily lost while in second position. Her time was 1:07:10 for the 10K "Enduro" course.

June 26, 2005: In today's Smiths Falls triathlon, Sheila Kealey was the first woman in 1:00:08 for the 500M swim, 20K cycle, 5K run.
In the Duathlon, Michelle Schuler was first with a time of 1:06:22 for the 3K run, 20K cycle, 5K run. Her 5K split of 19:29 tied for 3rd fastest overall!

June 19, 2005: In the Muskoka Long Course Triathlon today, Suanne Russell was the 6th Female in the PRO category in a time of 3:17:45 for the 2K swim, 55K cycle and 15K run.

May 3, 2005: On the past weekend Sophia Tsouros and Robyn De Cesare competed in Adventure Racing Canada's off road triathlon outventure. They paddled a canoe on Lake Ontario at Harbourfront, then did a run along Lakeshore and finished with a mountain bike section along the Don Valley. They finished in 3 hours, and won the Female Duo Division.
Robyn is doing the Salomon Adventure Challenge this weekend in Bon Echo..it's a 5-8 hour race involving paddling,trail running and mountain biking.

Angela Plamondon ran 2:14:23 for 29th female and seventh in her age-group. Robyn Dicesare finished in 2:20:03 to place 52nd female and 4th in her age-group.
March 14, 2005: Chantal Gosslin (Roberts) and Michelle Schuler placed 1-2 in Saturday's St. Patrick's Day 10K in times of 38:55 and 38:57 respectively. Robyn Dicesare was 5th in 43:11.
February 27, 2005: Mary Jane Middelkoop Inducted into UTC Athletics Hall of Fame
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga inducted five new members into the Athletics Hall of Fame Friday night at the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club. Those honored were Mary Jane Middelkoop, April Miller Raschke, Keith Nelson, Curtis Rouse and Mike Royster.
Mary Jane Middelkoop - Cross Country And Track, 1994-97
Mary Jane Middelkoop is one of the most decorated female student-athletes in UTC athletics history.
An outstanding distance runner, Middelkoop was selected as the 1997 Southern Conference Female Athlete of the Year.
She won nine conference distance championships in indoor and outdoor track. Among her conference titles are the outdoor 5000 meter run in 1995, 1996 and 1997, the indoor 5000 in 1996 and 1997, the outdoor 3000 in 1995 and 1996, the indoor 3000 in 1995 and the distance medley relay indoors in 1995.
She placed among the top eight in all four of the Southern Conference Cross Country Championships in which she competed, including a third-place finish as a freshman in 1994.
A member of the school record-holding indoor 4x800 and 4x1600 relay teams, Middelkoop was named the SoCon Cross Country Freshman of the Year and the SoCon Women�s Indoor Freshman of the Year. She was the school�s nominee for the NCAA Female of the Year in 1997 and earned a spot on the GTE Academic All-District IV At-Large Team.
Middelkoop was a Dean�s List student every semester, elected to Alpha Society and graduated Magna Cum Laude. In 1997 she was awarded the UTC A. C. �Scrappy� Moore Award and the Dorothy Hicks graduate scholarship from the Southern Conference.

February 20, 2005: In today's Keskinada Loppett XC ski race, Sheila Kealey placed 2nd female and 1st Master(40+) in the 52K Free Style in a time of 2:41:40.
February 19, 2005: Robyn Dicesare ran the Myrtle Beach Marathon in 3:18:34 on Saturday placing 8th fenale, 1st Masters (40+) and 92nd overall out of 1,346 finishers. Angela Plamondon finished the Half-Marathon in 1:43:27, walking it in after sustaining a calf injury.

October 3, 2004: Susan Gomes has returned home from Viareggio, Italy where she competed in the World Lifesaving Championships. Susan's team, the St. Laurent Masters, was the only Masters team representing Canada and they were very successful despite huge surf in the ocean. The team took home 14 medals in total, 4 relay medals and 10 individual.
Individually, Susan was awesome with:

In the Half-Marathon, Angela Plamondon was second in 1:27:16. Robyn Dicesare was fourth in 1:33:57. It was OAC alumni day as six former OCERers, Chantal Gosselin (Roberts) (1:27:00), Barb Saville (1:30:12), Kelly Knoll (1:42:11), Michelle Martin (Marshall) (1:38:55), Catherine Fletcher (1:47:07) and Dave Saville (1:19:09) all raced.

September 4, 2004: Susanne Russell captured first place in the Canadian Half Ironman held in Ottawa today. Her time was 4:43:07 for the 2K Swim, 90K Bike and 21.1K run.

July 10, 2004: In this morning's Ottawa Athletic Club Triathlon in Gatineau Park, Sheila Kealey was the women's winner in 1:29:05 for the 1200M swim, 22K cycle and 7K run. This was Sheila's third win in the past four years; she was 2nd in 2003.
Susanne Russell was first in her age group in 1:35:39; Former OACer Lynne Bermel was 1st in the Masters category (40+) in 1:36:30; Mary Jane Middelkoop finished in 1:41:50 (including a 28:31 run split); Joscelyn Coolican finished in 1:43:56.
In the team competition, Amanda Shaw cycled for the Impromptu team which won the women's team event, Erin Down swam for Erin's Team, Lynda and Paula Hickman biked and ran for the Fabulous Fast Fifties, and Sophia Tsouros biked for the Splash,Flash,and Dash team.
July 7, 2004: Liz Maguire ran an 18:11 5K in the MidSummer's Night Race to place first woman and 6th overall.
July 7, 2004: Ottawa's Joyce Burghardt Enters Canadian Forces Sports Hall of Fame
Ottawa's Navy Lieutenant-Commander Joyce Burghardt (formerly Switzer) , a member of the Ottawa Athletic Club Racing Team, will be inducted into the CF Sports Hall of Fame this October: the ultimate honour that is bestowed upon Canada's best military athletes.
She will join former OACRT members Lynne Bermel (in 1992) and Sharon Donnelly (in 1999).
Joyce has won the CF women's running championship a record 8 times and on several occasions has represented Canada overseas at international running events including competing 3 times at the World Military Games (essentially the Olympics for the military).
July 5, 2004: In yesterday's Barry's Bay Triathlon, Lynne Bermel was the second woman and first Masters(40+) in 1:41:15 for the 750M swim, 30K cycle and 8K run; Sophia Tsouros was 5th in her age-group in a time of 2:01:25.
July 3, 2004: Lisa Balerna won the National Capital Ottawa Duathlon this morning in a time of 1:03:35 for the 2K run, 20K cycle and 5K run; John Lewis was 6th in 59:49.

In the Canada Day 5K in Kanata, Paula Hickman won in 19:30, Lisa Balerna was second in 19:34 and Shirley Fleming was fifth in 20:26.
June 27, 2004: In this morning's Figure 8 5Km Run in Smiths Falls, John Lewis was second in 17:33 and a pregnant Michelle Schuler was second among the women in 20:55!
In the triathlon (500M swim, 20K cycle and 5K Run) Sheila Kealey was first woman in 1:00:57; Susanne Russell was second in 1:05:24 and Tanya Shaw was third in her age-group in 1:12:11; Joscelyn Coolican was second in her age-group in 1:13:09.
June 20, 2004: In the Muskoka Long Course Triathlon Susanne Russell was 3rd in her age-group in a time of 3:24:09 for the 2K swim, 55K cycle, 15K run course; Kerry Rocheleau finished in 3:40:46.
In the "Do It for Dad" 5K Liz Maguire ran a PB time of 17:48 placing second by 6 seconds (3 seconds in chip time). She was 11th overall. Paula Hickman was 4th woman and 1st Masters(50+) in 19:13. Joscelyn Coolican, running her first 5K, placed third in her age-group in 21:03.
In the 10K Tanya Shaw ran 41:34 to place 3rd.

May 30, 2004: In the ING Ottawa Marathon Robyn Di Cesare finished in 3:27:10 just ahead of Sue Gomes in 3:27:53.

May 22, 2004: Sheila Kealey was second in this morning's Ottawa Early Bird Sprint Triathlon in a time of 1:07:00, Susanne Russell was third after swimming an extra 100M in the pool and Paula Hickman was first Master in 1:16:03.
In the Duathlon, Amanda Shaw was first (and 7th overall) in 1:04:44; Lisa Balerna was 2nd (and 12th overall) in 1:08:19.
In the Colonel By Classic, Ilze Rupners from Vancouver who has been training with the club this month was 2nd - and first Master - in 42:24.
May 9, 2004: Suzanne Russell won the Mother's Day Duathlon (and was 12th overall) in Cumberland in a time of 59:40. Kerry Rocheleau was 4th in 1:02:47 and Sophia Tsouros was 6th in 1:08:09. Sheila Kealey and Amanda Shaw had finished 1-2 in the duathlon but both were DQed for crossing the center-line during the bike portion.
Robyn Dicesare won the Half-Marathon in 1:31:32.
May 1, 2004: Mary Jane Middelkoop was the second woman in this morning's Diefenbooker Classic 5K in Carp, in a time of 20:06. Lynda Hickman was third - and first Master - in 20:29.
April 25, 2004: In this morning's Physiotherapy Run 5K, Sheila Kealey won in 19:40 and Paula Hickman was 2nd (and 1st Master) in 19:47.
Muya Wachira was 11th overall and 2nd Master in 19:51.
In the Kingston Half-Marathon Susanne Russell was 4th, .7 seconds behind the third place finisher, (and 1st in her age-group) in a time of 1:30:53.9. Kerry Rocheleau was 6th in 1:35:57.

March 29, 2004: In Sunday's Around the Bay 30K Race in Hamilton, ON Angela Plamondon placed 9th Female and fourth in her category in a time of 2:04:30.
March 13, 2004: In the St. Patrick's Day 10K Angela Plamondon was the second woman in 39:54. Chantal Roberts was third in 41:05, Susanne Russell was fourth in 41:34 and Lisa Balerna was fifth in 41:51.
March 7, 2004: Mary Jane (MJ) Middelkoop and Tracey Montgomery competed in the Napa Valley Marathon on March 7th, the first marathon for both of them. MJ ran 3:15:14 for 10th place. Tracy had problems and in her words "did the ironman shuffle" from the 12 mile point, finishing in 4:10:32.

February 29, 2004: Angela Plamondon was third in today's Peterborough Half-Marathon in a time of 1:26:34. Tanya Shaw was the 12th woman in 1:35:03.
February 15, 2004: Sheila Kealey finished 2nd female in the Keskinada 50K(42.5km Free) in a time of 2:18:27, just 6 seconds behind Tara Whitten of Canmore, AB, a national team member.

February 7, 2004: Sheila Kealey won the Winterlude Triathlon (8K Skate, 45.K Ski and 5K Run) in a time of 59:52 which was good for 14th place overall!

November 3, 2003: The OAC swept the Jim Howe Memorial XC (10K) race held at the Hornet's Nest near Blackburn Hamlet. Sheila Kealey was first in 42:13, Stephanie Duffy was second in 42:59 and Chantal Roberts was third in 44:26. Robyn DiCesare was fifth in 46:31.
October 26, 2003: In this morning's Rattle me Bones races at the Ottawa General Hospital Lynne Bermel won the 10K in a time of 37:34, Michelle Schuler was 4th in 39:02 and Lisa Balerna was 5th in 40:11.
In the 5K Sheila Kealey was third in 18:45. Muya Wachira was first in his age group in 19:04.
October 18, 2003: The OAC women's team (MJ Middelkoop, Lisa Balerna, Erin Down, Ann Marie Foley and Sheila Kealey) won the women's open division in a combined time of 1:37:06.9.
Our mixed team of Muya Wachira, Barb Saville, Liz Snider, Dave Saville and Eric Martinat won the open mixed division in 1:33:17.8.
Our second mixed team of Dennis Featherstone, Wendy Fitzpatrick, Jen Hopkins, Robyn DiCesare and John Lewis were 2nd in the open mixed division in 1:40:13.8.
On the women's side new recruit Liz Snider ran the fastest 5K split in a time of 18:39.4 ahead of MJ Middelkoop who ran 18:41.8.
For the men, Dave Saville ran a 17:38.1.

August 31, 2003: In the Canadian Half Triathlon run in Ottawa yesterday, Sheila Kealey was the second woman in a time of 4:34:32 for the 2K Swim, 90K Bike and 21.1K Run.
In the Sprint Triathlon (500M Swim, 30K Bike and 5K Run) Stephanie Duffy won in a time of 1:25:04 with a 19:44 5K run time good enough for 9th overall.
In the Try a Tri (200M Swim, 15K Bike and 5K Run), Lisa Balerna was the first woman (and 2nd overall) in 55:04 with her 5K run time of 20:08 first overall.
In the Half-Ironman UK at Sherborne Castle, Paula Hickman was first in the 50-54 category and qualified for the Hawaiian Ironman - which she will not be doing - in a time of 5:28:37.

Erin Hawes was the first female in the Sprint (750M Swim, 21K Cycle, 5K Run) triathlon in a time of 1:07:45 and MJ Middelkoop was 8th female in the Olympic distance triathlon in 2:33:02.
August 11, 2003: In yesterday's Breath Of Life Run/Walk For Cystic Fibrosis held in Kanata, the OAC swept the top three women's places in the 10K.
Mary Jane (MJ) Middelkoop won the race in 38:43, followed closely by Lisa Balerna in 2nd place with a time of 38:56. New member Tanya Shaw was third in 42:13.
In the 5K Amanda Shaw was second in 19:34.
August 3, 2003: In today's Kingston Triathlon Sheila Kealey won the long course triathlon (2K Swim, 56.5K Bike and 15K Run) in 3:08:07. Erin Hawes was 2nd in 3:09:58. Paula Hickman won her age-group (Masters, 50-54) in 3:47:12.
In the Duathlon (4K Run, 30K Bike and 7.2K Run) Michelle Schuler was 2nd in 1:39:12 ,Lisa Balerna was 3rd in 1:40:59 and Amanda Shaw was 4th in 1:41:08.
July 20, 2003: In the Graham Beasley Triathlon Sheila Kealey was the first woman - and 7th overall - in a time of 2:14:53 for the Olympic Distance (1500M Swim, 40K Bike and 10K Run. Her run split was 41:06, 8th fastest, overall, for the day. Erin Hawes was 3rd woman in 2:21:00 and Erin Down was 4th in 2:22:35.
In the Sprint Triathlon Stephanie Duffy was the first woman - and 8th overall - in 1:06:33 for the 500M Swim, 20K Bike and 5K Run.
In the Duathlon the OAC women swept the top 3 places. Amanda Shaw was first - and 7th overall - in 1:11:59 for the 3K Run, 20K Bike and 5K Run. Michelle Schuler was second - and 8th overall - in 1:13:01. Lynda Hickman was 3rd woman and first Master in 1:15:09.
Lisa Balerna won the "Try A Tri" (overall!) in 1:01:46 for the 200M Swim, 20K Bike and 5K Run distance.
July 19, 2003: In the National Capital Triathlon, Ann Marie Foley was 4th woman and 2nd Master (40+) in a time of 1:13:57 for the 750 Swim, 20K Bike and 5K Run. Mary Jane (MJ) Middelkoop, in her third triathlon, was 5th woman and 2nd in her age-group in 1:15:20. Her 5K Run split was 18:34, first among woman and 6th overall! Tanya Shaw was fourth in her age-group in 1:19:07. Tracy Montgomery was second in her age-group in 1:21:39.
July 17, 2003: In last night's Ottawa Lions Twilight Meet at Terry Fox, Stephanie Duffy ran 18:00.19 for the 5, 000M.
July 14, 2003: Paula Hickman was second in her age-group (50+) in yesterday's Utica Boilermaker 15K in a chip-time of 1:02:48.
July 5, 2003: A large contingent of OACers took part in the Ottawa Heart Institute Triathlon in Gatineau Park.
In the individual event Sheila Kealey was 2nd in 1:33:17 for the 1200M Swim, 22K Bike and 7K Run. Stephanie Duffy was 3rd in her age-group in 1:38:40, Ann Marie Foley was 2nd in her age-group in 1:42:36, Erin Down was 4th in her age-group in 1:44:12, Paula Hickman was 1st in her age-group in 1:48:14, Mary Jane Middelkoop was 5th in her age-group in 1:50:15 and Tracy Montgomery was 14th in her age-group in 2:00:03 after suffering from a side stitch which forced her to walk on the run section.
In the Relay, Lynda Hickman, Dora Erasmo, and Joyce Burghardt placed 2nd in the women's category by 6 seconds in 1:41:16.
Michelle Schuler ran a fast 28:22 split to help her team place 13th overall and Tanya Shaw did the cycle leg in 47:41 for her team.
July 1, 2003: In Kanata's Canada Day Races, Michelle Schuler was 2nd in the 10K in 38:58, Paula Hickman was 3rd in 40:15 and Chantal Roberts was 4th in 41:50.

June 22, 2003: In today's Crosstrainer Smiths Falls Triathlon Duathlon & Figure 8 Run, Sheila Kealey won the triathlon in 1:00:42 for the 500M Swim, 20K Bike and 5K Run. Erin Hawes was 2nd in 1:03:27, and Mary Jane Middelkoop was 5th in her age group in 1:11:25 and Tracy Montgomery was 6th in 1:12:00.
In the Duathlon Amanda Shaw won in 1:01:49 for the 3K Run, 20K Bike, 5K Run. She was fourth overall. Michelle Schuler was 2nd woman and 9th overall in 1:04:14. Lisa Balerna was 3rd woman and 12th overall in 1:05:10.
June 18, 2003: In the Human Race Relay (5 X 1K) the OAC Racing Team was the first women's team and 4th overall. Astrid Daigle, Lisa Balerna, Amanda Shaw, Stephanie Duffy and Chantal Roberts made up the 5 person team.
June 15, 2003: In the Do It for Dad races in Ottawa, MJ Middelkoop was 2nd in 19:01, Paula Hickman was 3rd (and 1st Masters - 50+) in 19:04 and Ann Marie Foley was 4th (and 2nd Masters (40+) in 19:10. Former OAC members Lynne Bermel and Barb Saville were 1st (18:32) and 5th (19:25).
In the 10K Michelle Schuler won in 38:03. Dennis Featherstone was first in the Masters 60+ category in 40:49.

March 30, 2003: Robyn Di Cesare ran 2:13:11 in today's Around the Bay 30K race in Hamilton. She placed 275th our of 3,699 finishers and 5th in her age-group.
March 15, 2003: Lisa Balerna was 5th female in this morning's St. Patrick's Day 5K in a time of 19:39. Chantal Roberts was 3rd female in the 10K in 41:12.
March 10, 2003: Dennis Featherstone won two gold medals at the Canadian Masters Indoors in Toronto this weekend, winning the 1500M in 5:10 and the 3000M in 11:09.
February 23, 2003: Stephanie Duffy and Robyn Di Cesare placed 1st and 3rd in today's Peterborough Half-Marathon in times of 1:37:22 and 1:41:13 respectively.
February 16, 2003: a number of OAC Racing Team members demonstrated their multi-sport capabilities today as they competed in the Keskinada 50K Freestyle ski race. Sheila Kealey placed 4th woman and 1st in her age-group in a time of 2:25:25 (65th overall out of 538); John Lewis finished in 2:57:57 (after losing his pole at the start -it got stepped on- and had to take off his skis and run against a mass of approaching skiers to rescue it! Needless to say, this got him off to a poor start that he didn't really recover from); Michelle Sears was 8th in her age-group and 20th woman in 3:03:04.
In the 25K event Amanda Shaw placed 2nd in her age-group in 1:56:10 and Robyn Di Cesare was 11th in her age-group in 2:08:50.
February 2, 2003: Sheila Kealey repeated as the top female in the Winterlude Triathlon in a time of 58:23, placing 16th overall! Amanda Shaw was 3rd in 1:03:42. Michelle Sears finished first in her age-group in 1:08:13. Robyn Dicesare was 6th in her age-group in 1:10:14.
January 20, 2003: Three OACers competed in the Richmond Road Races yesterday. Amanda Shaw was 4th in the 5K in 20:20. Chantal Roberts placed 5th in the 10K in 42:13 and Robyn Di Cesare was 7th in 42:57.
January 16, 2003: Coach Ken Parker received the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal at a ceremony at the Congress Center on January 18, 2003.
